What is the Nature Coast?

We’ve all been to Florida at some point. We’ve seen Orlando, been to Disney, and probably even enjoyed the streets of Miami. Have you been to the Nature Coast?
The Nature Coast is the area of Florida that encompasses the western coast of the state. This area stretches from Clearwater to Ochlocknee Bay, and includes among others, Citrus, Hernando, Levy, Dixie and Sumter counties. Known for its beautiful scenery and recreational activities, Citrus County is just one of the delightful areas on the coast. Hernando County is famous for its crystal clear waters and beautiful beach area.

The natural scenery and wildlife is one of the best things about the Nature Coast.
You can find many endangered or threatened species in their natural habitat along with villages and real Native American sites. Inns, shops, wildlife parks and campgrounds are also plentiful along the coast.

The number of activities from which you can choose are limitless. Whether you enjoy kayaking, waterskiing, or canoeing, the crystal clear waters provide fun and enjoyment for the whole family. Tarpon fishing, crabbing and even golfing are beloved pastimes of visitors and inhabitants alike. Country cooking and Gulf seafood are the specialties offered on the Nature Coast from various restaurants up and down the strand.
